Can't choose the product's name

Hey, I'm currently building a SaaS that allows you to embed data from GoogleSheets or Airtable on your website beautifully in no time.

how it works

  1. Provide a shared URL to the spreadsheet or Airtable base
  2. Choose from pre-designed templates or order a custom one
  3. Put a simple, lightweight snippet on your site to embed live data there
  4. Every time you change sth in a sheet, the site will be updated

I built a landing page and a decent part of the web app, but I still can not come up with the idea for a name.

Here are some ideas I've got so far. Please let me know what is the best fit for you.

Also if you have any feedback on my idea I'd be over the moon to hear them.

Which name is the best?
  1. Sheetsly.com
  2. BunnySheets.com
  3. EmbedTables.com

allows you to embed data from GoogleSheets or Airtable

    👉 EmbedTables.com 100%

A founder told me that straight forward business name yields better conversion in general because people just get what you do by seeing the name. No concrete data to support this but I'm thinking it makes sense - anything to reduce brain willpower and friction!

Thank you for the advice! You absolutely right less friction = happier customers. I currently don't have a strong brand (I don't have any brand) so the name should probably speak for itself.

I'll probably go with EmbedTables.com or (as @thecrev suggested) SheetsView.com. What do you think about which one is a better fit?

      1. 1

I actually like SheetsView more because it looks a bit classier than EmbedTables, but it is quite hard to pronounce. Pros and Cons, but end of the day, don't spend too much time on name haha.

Whatever you end up calling this, let me know when it's ready. I have been looking for this and would love to be an early beta user.

So nice to hear that! I prepared a landing page so you can sign in to be up to date. I’ll definitely reach you out in a close future

When you're small and people don't have an existing association in their mind between your brand and the value that your brand delivers, I think it makes sense to bake as much value information into the title as you can. Bunny is catchy but it doesn't add any info, only the word Sheets provides info but there's no context. (could be a bed linen company). I think EmbedTables is great, the title itself shows the value of the product / the benefit someone gets from it. I know immediately what it does just from the title.

I usually like to pick a name that is a compound word or portmanteau made up of two monosyllabic words. so like "MailChimp" or "NetFlix". but despite EmbedTables having 4 syllables I think it's still memorable and rolls off the tongue easily.

Your advice is very helpful, thank you! I'll probably go with EmbedTables.com or SheetsView.com

Bunny Sheets is way more memorable.

But EmbedTables.com describes more of what you do.

Thank’s for your reply! And what do you think about SheetsView.com?

      1. 1

Not bad. Also descriptive. Passes the loud bar test.

Awesome idea, will 100% use this.

    As a big .app fan, I like websheet.app :-)

Assuming you aren't going to morph this into something a lot more complex down the road - Embeded Tables is straight forward, has some SEO value, and explains the product a bit in the name. If you're building and keeping it micro, this is the route I would go.

I own the domain sheet2website DOT com. Willing to let it go for a reasonable amount.

Naming things is so hard! Do you envisage SEO being important for your go to market strategy? Sheetsview is a great name, cleary works well for people here on IH but is the word 'embed' important from a search point of view?

My gut feeling is it probably would be but it would be interesting to look at the data.

I think I would circle around 'Embed' and 'Sheet' as you are offering to embed spreadsheets.

This problem has occurred a few times and I've not found a great solution, I am excited to see what you come up with. I think I would search something along the lines of:

    'Embed google sheets into website'

    or

    'Embeddable spreadsheet iframe'

    embedsheets.com ?

Hey, my project naminus.com might help. You can like/love/dislike the names it generates and it tries to tailor its results to your tastes.

Honestly, I was surprised they were available. I like sheetview best. I voted for bunnysheets.

          I'm considering SheetsView.com, it's available.
