Can't come up with business ideas? Pick up new hobbies!

TL;DR picking up a new, fun hobby might lead you to a new business idea that you will be more motivated to do because of product/founder fit.

I've always struggled with coming up with ideas.

Last month I was working on a SaaS dashboard/analytics app, but lost a lot of motivation due to lack of interest, technical difficulties, etc.

So I went back to square one: no ideas, constantly racking my brain all day.

But this time, instead of wallowing misery, I decided to just find something fun to do.

I love hip-hop/rap music, so I decided I'd try to make beats.

And I came across this difficult problem many producers have: coming up with chord progressions!

So I spent the last week building an app (trychords.com) that generates random chords, and posted it on Reddit today, with some good reception!

Now I want to take this more serious and continue developing it, and create enough value for users to make it a subscription-based product.

Best of all, I'm having much more fun!

I understand I am privileged enough financially to not worry about how I put food on the table, such that I can just go off and pick up a new hobby, but I think it's still a very valid way to generate new business ideas!

I think @levelsio once said something like "To get great ideas, you have to be an interesting person. To be an interesting person, you have to do interesting sh*t"... I'm probably misquoting him haha
