can't get pain points from people
I've been talking to the audience that I want to serve for the past few weeks.
Even though I've learned quite a bit about them, I don't think I got enough pain points (if any).
What's your experience with interviews? How do you get Pain Points?
Maybe you're not asking the right questions? The book the Mom Test goes into how most customers will not necessarily give you straight answers until you ask the right questions. Not sure if you've checked it out but I recommend it.
Also, another option would be to go to forums/reddit/Facebook groups where your audience congregates and look through there for what people mention their pain points are and once you have a few start asking your audience specific questions related to those pain points.
Steve, I have gone through this. You will be surprised to know that interviews don't help much. Most of the time people are not aware of their struggles and pain points. This is simply because "assuming a better option exists or can be developed" is beyond their perspective.
Apple played well. Before iphones, nobody was aware that a bad design is a struggle. Apple choose to bank on it. Of course, they merged iPod with mobile and created a different zone. But many people love apple only for their design.
You will have to change your perspective a bit and look from all the different angles. Chances are good you will find a pain point and solution to it.
Also, don't limit your self to an undiscovered problem. Sometimes the problem is solved by someone but the product is not up to the mark. In such cases, the product becomes the pain point that the customer is not aware of. If you can offer something better in terms of money, service, design, etc. then you win
@dhruvsoni mind sharing what you were trying to build? What were the interviews about?
Sure. I was building an online motivational and success course along with my mentor. We had already one course but this one was advance. So I use to deal with the people who already had some fix set of belief. Even convincing them that they deserve $1/ hour extra salary was too touch.
