Care to share how you discovered your idea?

I feel like I’m waiting for a worthy idea, nothing seems to get validated at the moment.

So trying to figure out how I can put myself into a position to discover the idea.

What I did was sitting down and working trough the prinicple of ikigai.

Basicly you list things in these four categories:

    1. What I love
Everything goes. Try not to think about if you are good at it. Just what do you really like.

    2. What you are good at
As stated. Look at what you do good. Maybe ask friends what they think you are better at then others.

    3. What pays for
Think about everything that comes to mind you think someone can earn money in. Can be services, products etc.

    4. What the world needs
That was the hardest for me. It somewhat has to align with your values.

Now you look at something that satisfies all 4 categories. It took me 2 weeks until I had something. This does not have to be an absolutely new idea. Its even better when its something existing and you can try to innovate in the field. Give it your own twist. Because based on this exercise you have the passion for it because you love it, you are good at doing it, it should be payed for and there is a need for it in the world!

What I usually do is the following:

    1. start building different apps
    2. While i'm building a new app I find new problems I need to solve somehow.
    3. Then I look for existing solutions on the net and try them
    4. Sometimes I can't find a good tool / solution for my problem
    5. Then I start to think about the following:
      • can I build smth for the problem relatively quickly? (1-2 weeks max)
      • Is it only me who have this problem or there are others? -> validate the idea
      • is it a problem which occurs often? if it happens once a year, it is probably not important.
      • Is there any chance that somebody will pay for it?
    6. If I can answer a yes to at least 3 of those questions, then i consider building it.

Hi, I think good ideas never come on their own) you can start with anything and after some deep testing you come to the right one. No need to be exceptional and try to create a new market)) copy something etc. Another way is to think what you can do for the audience you easily reach out)

its a very great guidance a real motivation to explore new ideas I am also working on the similar type of project you can see here https://herborganic.co.uk/

If urgency is not an issue. Just try the first idea you think might work. How this works is you try an idea and pivot early if it doesnt look like its working. You gain discipline and experience and you try another idea. Eventually you will find something that works and or something you like that you are willing to make work. This takes patience though..There are more efficient ways I guess.

I intentionally searched for a problem to solve.

In my opinion, you can create the best solution with software when you are the one directly feeling the problem. I just attempted to do new things and become an expert at it. Along the way of becoming an expert, I listened to the community and my own experiences about what was difficult and could be solved for the masses.

    To quickly outline my journey:

FBA (Amazon) -> Shopify -> Store Marketing -> Instagram -> Bot Automation -> Organic Growth -> Curate

I'll write about my journey in detail one day. Hopefully this insight helps a bit. Good luck!

That makes sense, i actually feel like i don't have any problems personally at the moment! Maybe a blessing in disguise, but part of the problem of not having any ideas that 'stick'

I feel the same, always thinking that today's the day I will come up with a brilliant idea.

I read an article last week that changed my stance: rather than thinking of an idea, I look at problems that I experience in my daily life and see if theres a software solution that could potentially solve it. Since then I've come up with quite a few!
