In Mar 2020, I was laid off due to Covid lockdown -- started Zlappo
Still running my business now, and it's my only job.
Not going to go into revenue numbers, etc., but I'm comfortable. 😃

Currently in the process of transitioning. Worked in data, built a business that failed and over the last year have been building projects to change careers and build a few side hustles
I did the same thing.
I was a teacher and covid hit so I started learning web development... a lot. I hit the lessons and started building my own stuff and within 2 years from the day I started I was making 6 figures. Not to brag, as I actually now took a job that pays less but I love the product and team, but some of the crazy career switcher success stories are true. I lived it :)
It used to be true that the vast majority of people who worked in iT made a career switch at some point in time, given that it was a new field. I don't think it is the vast majority anymore but probably still large.
I'm seeing more and more people switching to IT lately. With the high demand in this rapidly growing field, this trend is likely to continue in the future.
Yes, but what about AI? The necessary for junior/middle-level programmers will decrease dramatically.
If you're talking about the latest chatgpt hype then it first has to qualify as an AI. Its a large language model and at best its a subset of an AI. AGI is far off from what I have seen so far. So not to worry for the coming couple of decades, atleast.
