caveman.press: daily content on the most recent developments in AI

Hey IndieHackers! I'd like to introduce caveman.press, a system I built which posts daily content on recent developments in AI.

caveman.press scrapes AI subreddits and synthesizes topics into articles. Those articles are then posted on the news website I built, https://caveman.press, as well as on X and Bluesky.

My original inspiration for Caveman Press was a system that could generate engaging content about any topic. It would do this by scraping a list of subreddits, rss feeds, twitter accounts, etc - feed that data through natural language processing and generative AI - and then produce an article, social post, reel, etc. This way the system could generate engaging and informative content on any topic.

To build an MVP for this idea and prove the concept I built a quick system that scrapes 15 AI subreddits. I then manually worked with ChatGPT to write an article from the data found by the system. I built out a news website, posted the article there, and then posted the link to a few AI subreddits.

To my surprise the article was well received by Reddit, got a 125 upvotes, 80 comments, and caveman.press got a couple thousands visits. I took this early MVP win as a sign to build a some more of the system.

My next major hurdle was to get Caveman Press posting on other social media as Reddit proved to be an unreliable channel to post content: the caveman.press url was banned from a few of the major AI subreddits.

With this development I made an X and Bluesky account for Caveman Press where a summary of each article is posted each day.

Unlike Reddit the X and Bluesky content is at the whim of the algorithm to show it to users. And from what I've seen each Caveman Press post on X only gets shown to around 10 users. Not nearly enough traffic.

I think there's an opportunity to post much more (up to 24 posts per day I believe via the API). There's also an opportunity to improve the content on caveman.press by improving the scraping and generation system.

At this point however, I have put a lot of time into this project and am considering starting a new project as I think there's still a lot of work to better integrate with social channels, produce more content, and improve the quality of the content generation system.
