Central Scam database
I experienced several scam activities during the last months on different platforms. For some platforms, I submitted a support request to share details about the possible scam. Every platform I contacted answered with a default message but in general I don't feel that they really take care. Especially crypto wallet providers should protect their clients much better by simply blacklist websites and wallet hashes from their platform. I'm planning to build a SaaS where victims can submit details about their scams (many data anyways shared i.e. on reddit already but not structured) and the platform will add automatically information and share them with providers. As soon as the database is filled with relevant data an API can be sold to providers to detect scams easier.
Right now I think providers don't do any automation to protect their clients for several reasons.
I'm happy for any input about that topic.
The MVP will consist of one feature: You'll be able to submit relevant information about the scam like date, screenshots, identifiable information like URLs, hashes, emails, IP, whatever exists in that context and the system will collect automated information and forward them to the relevant providers by simply creating awareness.
I'll collect that information manually from Reddit and co to confirm if the process works out.
As soon as I've enough data I'll provide a new form like on https://haveibeenpwned.com/ where you paste the identifiable information to check if the resource might be a scam.
For interested Providers, I'll also provide an API to give them a chance to automatically check their resources against my database full of identifiable information so i.e. coinbase could avoid sending money to a hash which is identified as a scam. Unfortunately, I still believe they simply don't care about that fact but I'll try to create awareness as well as possible with my tool.
And when they are ready, they can also push scam data via API to my service and with this, we'll have a central space to detect scams centralized.
Seems like a good problem to solve. I'm interested to hear how you'd structure your MVP.
Lately I've seen a scam on Facebook marketplaces where people sell products, receive payment online and never deliver.
One way you could go after these scammers is by creating a website that lets people report these scammers. When people look at listings on Facebook they can check your website to see if the seller has any scam reports.
A big downside with this is 99% of users wont know about your website.
