I started to calculate the result for a game based on how many letters the player bought. Every day the user started with 2000 points, and revealing a letter costed 150 points. If the player successfully decoded the daily puzzle, their result was the remainder. This was confusing for users, because (based on the feedback) they thought they bring the leftovers over to the next day - this is not the case. Also, every time a user "bought" a letter, it was totally random.
I changed this approach, to pre-define the available help letters in a given order - so it is the same for everyone. This means the result of a puzzle is a yellow-green pattern, similar to wordle. I think it looks better in shared posts as well.
We'll see.
