Charting On No Code SUCKS

Hello,

As a past quant/data scientist, I can say with confidence that charting on no-code development platform (specifically Webflow and Bubble and especially Webflow) suck.

There are just limited customizations and the plugins available (for Bubble) are alright but not great. With Webflow, you have to revert to coding in order to utilize external graphing APIs.

It has gotten to the point to where I am about to take the leap the community needs and build the memberstack.io of charting for no-code platforms.

What do you think?

Hey Joe, I'd be interested in hearing more about your idea and the challenges you've experienced. Where's the best place to follow your progress?

Hey! The best place would be my blog. medium.com/generationzeo

Great, thanks for sharing your stories.

I've had luck transforming data in Bubble to a JSON object, then passing that into a D3.js visualization to create charts where the Bubble plugins are too tedious to work with.

If you built an interface that could enable non-technical people to create the D3.js code and easily copy/paste it into the app with some instructions that could be a useful MVP -- I'd pay something for it if it saved me a bit of time.

Yes exactly! I was thinking either utilizing plotly or Highcharts but d3 would work to!

How much is that time worth would you say?

      1. 2

Hard to say - I might pay more ($20/mo) for access to a library of charts/visualizations. One-offs are challenging to estimate.

What do you mean by the library? I was thinking of giving access to dozens of different chart types. Is that what you mean?

          1. 2

            Yep exactly like that

So glad you mentioned Memberstack, because I want this! haha

I wanted to create a KPI reporting dashboard inside of Webflow, but wasn't able to pull it all together. Now, we're using google sheets with charts, but that leaves a lot to be desired

        Thanks, Yan 🙏

That Client Dashboard uses a tool called Chart.js to render the forms. However, they are suuuuper limited in what you can do + it's crazy hard to manage the data with the Webflow CMS. I'm sure someone could make it work, (like the auto update google sheet template) but I'm not smart enough or patient enough to figure it out 😂

Haha, fantastic! Alright, you have convinced me. I am building it. Reach out to me at [email protected]. Would love to have you test it out once I complete it!

      P.S: Love Memberstack! Great work!
