ChatGPT can now browse the internet and will soon have the ability to hear, see, and speak

This is about to get interesting.

The news today: ChatGPT can now browser the internet.

  • Previously the tool was limited to data collected before September 2021. Not anymore.

  • This will heat up the competition between OpenAI and Google, because Google's Bard is no longer the only major AI chatbot with real-time internet access

Coming soon: ChatGPT will get voice and image capabilities:

  • You'll be able to upload a picture and talk about it with ChatGPT; ask it to interpret the image, etc.

  • You'll be able to talk back and forth with ChatGPT; record a voice and get it to talk back to you.

The real question: When will OpenAI release this as an API? This could open up some pretty interesting capabilities for new kind of apps.

What do you plan to build using these new capabilities?

I actually spoke to Bob Muglia, the Former President of Microsoft about AI and regulation because it is becoming quite powerful. Here's what he told me.

"Originally, when this broke at the beginning of the year, I felt it was important that people take it seriously. That's happening. A day doesn't go by when I don't see AI in the news in some form or another. But there are two distinct issues...

As AI reaches the intelligence of an average person it could ultimately grow beyond that to superintelligence, where it's smarter than all of us put together. I do think that will ultimately happen in the not-so-distant time frame.

To ensure we don't have a Terminator outcome, we have to make sure that the values of AI are consistent and coherent with human values. If we do that, we could see an incredible period of growth in humanity.

So, AI is a very powerful tool, and like every other tool created by humanity, it will be used for every possible purpose. The good, the bad, and, unfortunately, the evil. If somebody builds a deep fake that perfectly represents me in every way, shape, and form and posts this on YouTube saying things I don't believe, that needs to be illegal.

I think people should have the creativity to do that as long as they don't misrepresent others." - Bob Muglia

I work as a professional chef, and at the age of 45, I'm happily married with children. In addition to running a successful pizza shop, I've also developed a keen interest in acquiring digital skills. One of my recent endeavors has been learning about SEO and launching my own website It's my very first digital project, and I'm curious to hear if anyone thinks it's a worthwhile endeavor or if there are areas where I could make improvements. Your feedback would be greatly appreciated

Shameless plug, I added Web Browsing Plugin to my little ChatGPT client (https://boltai.com)

I tested and it works better than ChatGPT in some cases.

Speaking might be fun. However, many people still like to type. Perhaps it will spawn a new generation of articulate speakers. Only time will tell. As for me, I plan to do both. I will build a droid capable of many things with an app like this.

So many ChatGPT wrappers that are based on providing this are gonna be screwed but at the same time I see a whole set of new apps emerging that just weren't possible before.

Definitely I've been using a chrome extension that was transcribing my voice to text and now I guess they will loose some users due to the use case being covered by chatgpt
