Few people came to me and said they can't upgrade to ChatGPT Plus because... There's a waitlist. So I had to look into it.
Due to recent events with Sam Altman's position at OpenAI and various promises at DevDay, OpenAI decided to disable the 'subscribe' option.
High demand raised after 'promises' of new features (e.g. new GPT templates and more powerful chatbots). So this is a sort of cooldown for OpenAI.
We don't know yet. Personally, I believe we'll get an announcement on the 1st of December — or maybe the days following.
Current subscribers can upgrade to Plus, as far as I know. I mean, it worked for me, so I thought I'd share that with you and in my news here.
If you're in a rush of an AI chatbot, I suggest you use: Notion AI, Claude, or even Bing's. Speaking of which, are you using any of these?
Most people would prefer ChatGPT above everything. LMK!
Yes, i am using bing as well as chatgpt 3.5 and 4

Yes, ChatGPT Plus does have a waitlist. The decision to implement a waitlist is likely driven by the overwhelming demand and popularity of the ChatGPT Plus subscription service. OpenAI may have introduced the waitlist to manage the influx of users and ensure a smooth onboarding process while maintaining the quality and reliability of the service. By controlling the number of users who can subscribe at a given time, OpenAI can effectively scale their infrastructure, manage server loads, and address any potential issues that may arise during the subscription rollout. This approach aligns with a phased and controlled release to provide a positive user experience and uphold the service's performance standards. Users on the waitlist can expect to gain access to ChatGPT Plus as OpenAI expands its capacity and refines the subscription offering.
