Cheap early-access mailing list systems for introverted bootstrap developers?

Is there anything more bootstrap developer friendly for running an early access mailing list out there?

I have a new bootstrap side-project I've just started. I know I should have an early access mailing list, but the idea fills me with dread. Because I know it takes ages to craft and send these things I just don't bother.

Compare this to my blog which allows me to rattle out a blog post in minutes. For that I have a bash script for making a new post template, which opens it in vim. I write some stuff, save-and-quit vim, git-add-commit-push and github pages publishes it within seconds. The fact it's so slick means I actually create posts.

I've had a mailchimp mailing list for my blog for many years and it's got 25 subscribers who I think I've emailed once in 10 years. I hate the mailchimp web editor and the whole many-clicks process in mailchimp. I'm used to markdown + vim + github pages for creating content so web interfaces seem terrible to me. I'm also no marketer. All in all I end up just not mailing anyone even though I know I should.

Is there anything out there that wouldn't suck the life out of me?

Help!

I'm sure I'm not the first to ask this, I've done some searching but haven't found an answer to my prayers... please send me links to anything I've missed.

I never found one that truly handled all of my needs…

    Hopefully others have suggestions 😅

Well that's useful to know at least!
What are your needs... Maybe we should build one that does that lol.
Mailing lists for developers. Vim, markdown and git....

I am actually building my own version 😂 but I don’t plan on turning it into a product

Couple of people on the MegaMaker slack have recommended buttonmail - seems to fit the bill and is cheaper than mailchimp. Win.

Just waiting for my 25 subscriber import to be approved then it'll be live at https://buttondown.email/tim_abell
