Hi IH,
Long time no posts π. I am finally back to building, and looking into validating an idea that has been in the back of my mind for quite some time now.
Users of this new product will be able to upload their videos to this new platform. I'm considering having a Free tier too, so I am trying to I am trying to evaluate different cloud providers to understand if there is a solution that wouldn't break the bank πΈ.
Do you have any suggestions?
Edit: I'm looking into solutions that would be economical both in terms of the storage and bandwidth costs.
Try Contabo
Awesome and very cheap provider
Especially the s3 bucket pricing, it's unbelievable
Nice option, thanks for sharing thisβI hadn't heard of them before :)
Wow, their pricing is insane. And they are from Germany which is important for πͺπΊ founders.
Have you tried their zeroops product? Sounds like heroku/render in EU and cheap. I have been looking for something like it for ages.
I use a lot their VPS instances and I'm very satisfied
Also i used their s3 bucket
Haven't tried other than that
Bunny.net has the volume CDN starting from $0.005/GB (storage starts from $0.01/GB), they also have Bunny Stream which takes care of the video encoding with no extra fees.
Been using them for quite small scale projects and I've been pretty happy so far
Main advice would be to avoid any of the main cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP...) and go for simple server hosting. Integrated cloud solutions tend to base their revenue on bandwidth, which is nearly free on plain server providers. The serverless trend is OK for code, but never for bandwidth intense problems
I have a question. Is it allowed to aggregate tiktok+reels+shorts content and show it on another app? Will these platforms allow 3rd party apps to look up their data is my question.
Good question, should have specified on the original post that the storage space would be needed to host/serve original content
Cloudflare R2
Thanks! Have you used it before?
Yup but not for storing video .. the great thing about the service is that they dont charge you for network egress! That is a huge saving .
I think cheapest right now is actually digital ocean: https://www.digitalocean.com/products/spaces
Note that it includes CDN for free...
Actually. after checking Cloudflare R2 it seems even cheaper considering free egress, sounds almost too good to be true...
Nice!
