Chicago Solana Meet Up (Day 470)

These 5 people are changing the world of trading using the Solana ecosystem--Dan Gunsberg (Hxro), Bartosz Lipinski (Solana), Brett Harrison (FTX US), Kanav Kariya (Jump Trading), and Rob Levy (Hxro).

They are the 1st group of panelists of the Solana Chicago meetup last Sunday, August 1st, 2021 and discussed the future of finance trading. The 2nd panel was on the NFT space. Check out the details from this tweet.

The first meet-up I have attended in person since COVID, and meeting people in person is wonderful! The venue was amazing, backdropped with the Chicago river and the beautiful Chicago summer weather, an open bar and delicious hors d'oeuvres. But what's more exciting are the topics being covered and the enthusiasm of the participants.

One of the key takeaways is that in the traditional trading world, every firm safeguards their proprietary technologies armed with legal teams and anti-competition clauses. But in the Solana world (and a few of other blockchains), competitors are helping each other to solve technological problems and help each other to compose and build. The collaboration is unheard of from the traditional firms. This expedited the development exponentially, showing the power of open and collaborative ecosystems. With more and more brilliant minds and engineers joining this movement, we are only seeing the beginning of the next generation of trading (and NFTs).

Don't worry if you missed this event. The next meetup--"The Summer of SOL" is coming to San Francisco coming Saturday. Hope to see you there! Hit me up if you'll be going, would love to meet fellow IHers there!
