Chief of tiny staff

I’ve already written about my prioritization and time balance issues. This is more of that.

I realized that I have about four hours of contract shuffling, bill paying and calendar management a week. I spend about six hours each week avoiding the aforementioned tasks.

I posted on LinkedIn to see if anyone would be interested in supporting at that minimal number of hours each week.

Someone asked me about the rate - and so I built this (rather simple) calculator (basically it’s a survey with rated answers) that allows me to predict the pay scale based on experience and skills. Knowing how to use all the software in our tech stack might get you ten points while the knowing software adjacent (I’ve used Jira or asana but not Monday) would get you half points. I tally up the points and use that as a way of estimating compensation AND my investment in terms of time and resources.

The answers to the calculated survey return five different pay scales -> one is low, one is very high (very little or a ton of experience) and I reject people at this point explaining why (time or money). The people in the middle ranks will notice the more they’ve already done what I need them to do - the less work I have to do and the more I pay them for the privilege of not having to babysit them or do the work myself.

This in NO WAY helps assess talent or culture fit. But 1) I plan on using it to market my positions and 2) it helps set the right expectations before they apply.

It also allows me to concentrate complete on soft skills during my interview (we invite final round interviewees to our weekly stand-down).

Anyway; all this to say - I need some help because I can’t afford the mental health toll that working multiple jobs is taking AND remember to send out the signed contracts. (I mean, I could. I am. But I don’t wanna)

What exactly is the profile you are looking for?
And if it is rather easy tasks, 4 hours every week, why not automate it?
