Chrome theme maker

Hi Indie Hackers,

I am the founder of https://chrome-stats.com, a platform that helps browser extension developers do competitive research and track their growth. It supports Chrome extensions, Firefox add-ons, and Edge add-ons. My goal is to grow the browser extension ecosystem.

As I analyze the stats in Chrome Web Store vs Firefox add-on store, I found a surprising fact that Chrome has 4X the number of extensions compared to Firefox (124K vs 30K), but Firefox has >16X more themes than Chrome (490K vs 30K). Firefox offers some very good tools for building themes (e.g., https://color.firefox.com/). For Chrome, there are no official tools. While some third-party tools exist, they are not very easy or intuitive to use for beginners.

To address this issue, I have created https://browser-themes.com/, an online tool that allows users to create and customize their own Chrome themes within seconds. Users can search through millions of images (powered by Unsplash), and in one click, they can generate a Chrome theme with the new tab background and color scheme based on that image. Advanced users can further customize the theme with their favorite colors, decorate the frame / toolbar with more images, etc (we have a live preview UI that tries to simulate the actual Chrome UI rendering as closely as possible). The tool is meant to be as intuitive and quick to use as possible.

Note that the new tab image in Chrome theme only works if you are using Chrome's default new tab. It does not work if you are using Brave / Edge, or have a custom new tab installed. The frame and toolbar color / images will work across the board though.
