So I am a seasoned software engineer (CS major, Pitt ’96, 25+ years coding), had an “ah-ha” moment with AI about six months ago after a friend encouraged me to embrace it. Previously, I used AI minimally (copy-paste from browser), but now leverage tools like Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, and Aider effectively, relying on extensive experience to craft precise prompts and spot AI errors. When asked how beginners with no coding background could use AI effectively, I acknowledged the challenge of answering due to my own experience, but suggested a smart beginner could reach a similar level in a year or less via a different, faster path than my own. I agreed structure (like bootcamps or videos) helps beginners avoid AI missteps, comparing it to learning to drive with GPS. I planned to make and share a video with insights. This is that video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sSJLWlrLlr0
