Climate Change app idea: How do I recycle in my area?

It's been a while since my last one, but here's another climate change idea I don't have time to try :)

Essentially, the idea is an app where you enter your postcode/zipcode, and it tells you what you can recycle in your area (and what day waste collection is), in easy-to-understand language. Recycling is infamous for changing from area to area, and it not being clear what kinds of plastic and other materials are accepted. For bonus points, if you scan an item's barcode, it'll tell you what (if any) of the packaging can be recycled in your area.

This'd probably require crowd-sourcing some of the info, as even in the UK, where I'm from, most councils have different schemes and different days for collection. I haven't quite figured out monetisation on this one, but might be something that could be worked on in collaboration with local gov't or carry ads in some way.
