Closed a $50k client!

Closed a $50k cold-email lead-gen deal!

But 6 months ago, I sent my first ever cold email.

It's a painful learning experience.

"I can't talk to strangers."
"I'm a developer, marketing isn't my jam."
"English isn't even my first language."

But I took a leap.

I learned everything possible about cold-emails.

  • sales
  • apollo
  • closing
  • AI agents
  • new tools
  • verification
  • psychology
  • copywriting
  • list-building
  • deliverability
  • creating offers
  • email sequence
  • personalizations

    Got rejected, reflected.

    Failed, but sailed.

    Grew, to something anew.

    Fast forward 6 months.

Now, not only have I grown my own business to $6k/month,

I'm also helping others grow by reaching hundreds of prospects daily with precision.

This is something I never dreamed of when I started.

Honestly, I had no idea, and still have no idea where my indie hacking journey will lead me.

But remaining open and adaptive has always steered me in exciting directions. (like how expanding to a productized service added $4k/mo)

Start taking actions. Get out of your comfort zone.
  • Send that one cold email.
  • Call that one customer who almost signed up.
  • Follow up with that promising lead from last week.

Because in it lies the potential to exceed all your expectations.

If you want to learn cold email, I'm starting a newsletter to breakdown the cold email system I used to scale my SaaS to $6k/mo, first issue goes out this Saturday.

Just from reading the structure & style of your post, you can tell you've put serious work in on sales, @SolarFlare! Really compelling & I love how you addressed some of those fears:

    "I can't talk to strangers."
    "I'm a developer, marketing isn't my jam."
"English isn't even my first language."

So easy to let fear of getting started or fear of rejection hold us back.

    Congratulations. Very motivating.

    Very inspiring @SolarFlare!
Glad you came out of your comfort zone to achieve this :)

    Thanks for the share

That is very inspirational! Thank you for sharing.
I wanted to understand how did you start cold-emailing in the first place? How did you get people's emails?

    1. 1

You can find most people's email using tools like prospeo or findymail

  6. 1

    yes, do it first

  7. 1

    That's great to hear

That's inspiring, SEO AI is also on the hunt for more clients. By the way, have you tried other channels to acquire customers? Or, are you planning to try any other channels?

    1. 1

For this lead gen agency not really. I plan to keep the number of clients low and the quality high.

Congrats! I find myself keep saying cold outreaching is still very underrated in B2B. It's even more powerful when one client means you're a 5 figure business! Learning how to write good cold emails (and not just rely on chatgpt) is one of the best marketing tool in anyone's arsenal (and it's free!).

    1. 1

exactly, chatgpt written copies, not just cold email but website, newsletter, etc, are terrible. if you can solve big problems for big companies it's really easy to have a solid business

    Congrats on this huge win!

This is beautiful. Quick question: How do you convince clients you're competent?

    1. 1

I showed them the pipeline I built to scale my own company to $5k/mo, and walked them through what I'd do for them.

  12. 1

Congratulations! I'm not sure if you're a freelancer, but the great thing about these big clients is it gives you some time to build out your sales pipeline and a more robust marketing funnel while you serve your client.

One thing I see a lot of people do (heck, I did it too) is they'll stop pushing for sales until they need sales, and obviously that's way too late, especially when you're selling expensive things that sometimes take months to win.

    1. 1

      Solid advice, thank you!
Although I'm not freelancing, I had good success growing my SaaS as a side hustle with cold email, then I happen to talk to some people who also want an outbound sales pipeline, so I took them on as a side hustle of a side hustle

Congrats! How did you find this client?

    1. 1

Through cold email kind of. One of my email got forwarded to them from their client. Then one thing after another I'm doing cold email lead-gen for them.
