Closing visual debt for
a global brand with AI

Hi Indie Hackers!

My background as a CEO of an IT company with a 60+ person team taught me to see design as a business process. Throughout that journey, I also led the design department, which gave me a unique perspective on how to balance high level strategy with execution.

Recently, I developed a strategic redesign concept for the Bionorica PES digital ecosystem. Bionorica is a global leader in phytoneering. My goal was to show how a legacy interface can be transformed into a modern positioning tool by combining an engineering mindset with AI capabilities.

1. Strategy to eliminate visual debt
In conservative industries, outdated visual language often becomes a barrier to trust. Bionorica has a powerful product, but the digital shell needed a rethink to match the company’s high tech status.

I developed a unified digital framework to solve this. This solution does more than just refresh the look. It strengthens the brand’s positioning as an innovator and creates a foundation for rapid product scaling.

2. Optimization through AI pipelines
The biggest challenge in projects like this is content. A brand needs thousands of premium visual assets, but traditional photo shoots are a massive drain on time and budget.

• I designed a process that replaces classic production with generative AI.
• I created hyper-realistic 3D models of plants and raw materials that visually outperform photos while significantly reducing production costs.

This methodology allows for handling huge volumes of content work with maximum budget efficiency.

3. Summary. Design as a resource management tool
For me, this case is primarily an exercise in finding the balance between business goals and technology. I wanted to demonstrate that the role of a modern designer is shifting from creating visuals to engineering effective systems.

When you combine product logic with tools like AI, design stops being an expense and becomes a working business asset.
