In the ever-expanding landscape of cloud infrastructure, complexity often comes with a hidden cost: inefficiency. To combat this, PointFive has launched the Cloud Efficiency Hub, a first-of-its-kind, community-powered knowledge base designed to help teams across various industries identify and resolve waste in their cloud environments.
Created by PointFive, the Cloud Efficiency Hub arrives at a pivotal moment for organizations navigating the challenges of cloud cost, performance, and sustainability. The platform already features contributions from over 70 practitioners representing leading enterprises and collectively catalogs more than 200 specific cloud inefficiencies.
"The Hub is centralizing knowledge around cloud inefficiencies in a way that hasn't been done before," said Matt Walls, FinOps Engineer at NBCUniversal and Founding Contributor. "It's given me the chance to learn from global experts and share my experiences optimizing cloud environments."
The launch marks a major milestone in the fast-growing field of Cloud Efficiency Posture Management (CEPM), a new discipline focused on embedding continuous cloud optimization directly into engineering workflows.
While traditional FinOps and cost-management tools often provide high-level visibility, CEPM digs deeper into the structural inefficiencies that accumulate within sprawling cloud estates. The Cloud Efficiency Hub takes these principles a step further by surfacing real-world inefficiencies ranging from idle compute resources to overlooked misconfigurations.
"I was immediately drawn to the Cloud Efficiency Hub because it directly addressed a need I recognized in my work," said Christine Oji, Cloud FinOps Engineer and Founding Contributor. "By documenting common waste patterns and their drivers, the Hub reinforces the tremendous value of collective knowledge."
True to its mission, the Cloud Efficiency Hub is governed by a lightweight, transparent structure comprising Contributors, Maintainers, and a Governing Board. This model ensures content accuracy, community alignment, and continuous updates, ensuring its long-term value.
Whether you're a DevOps engineer looking to uncover blind spots, a FinOps lead seeking optimization opportunities, or a cloud architect aiming for sustainable scale, the Hub provides a growing catalog of actionable insights that can empower you in your role.
Organizations and individuals interested in contributing or applying these insights can explore the platform at hub.pointfive.co.
