Coding interviews are broken.
They're a gatekeeping ritual that has NOTHING to do with actual software engineering.
We're forced to memorize obscure data structures and algorithms we'll never use, while being watched like lab rats through screen-sharing.
I got fed up and built Stealth Interview - an undetectable AI assistant that works during technical interviews. It runs silently in the background while you're screen-sharing on Zoom or any other platform. The interviewer sees nothing, but you get the help you need.
THIS is the only way you game the system, because the game is rigged.

I built this out of frustration, but also hope - for a future where we judge engineers by what they build, not how they perform in high-pressure algorithm recitals.

I allow candidates use anything they want during an interview. You need Google, ChatGPT or StackOverflow? Go for it. And let’s discuss how you do it. Seeing what kind of question you go for - tells more than the answers you get. Hiding these things and cheating is ridiculous. Why would you want to work with anyone lying to you or in need to lie? It’s unhealthy job and life.
The unfortunate truth is that either you memorize nonsensical puzzles you’ll never use for a job or you get left behind. It shouldn’t be this way. Companies are trying to optimize the time they spend on candidates, and candidates want to do that as well. I certainly don’t see myself spending months prepping for interviews anymore in my life, and this tool is a reaction to the industry as a whole. I could either do nothing or do something, and I chose to do something for candidates as opposed to companies.
How does it balance fairness for all candidates?
If someone doesn’t know anything about coding or software, it is easily probable with a discussion as opposed to algorithmic puzzles some might get taught in school.
But interviewers and companies want an answer in 45 minutes because they don’t care about candidate’s experience as much as they care about an algorithm solution within those 45 minutes.
This is unfair towards people who are long out of school because most people never invert trees at work and it is unfair towards companies who will hire anyone who can memorize puzzle questions because they still believe this is a good practice to filter candidates.
