Coffee is great - it boosts your energy and your mood, plus it tastes great and is perceived as cool (like smoking used to be). Unfortunately it is a drug, and using it daily for a decade or more will have nasty side effects - anxiety, nervousness, and worst of all - poor sleep. In recent years I started to wake up with a headache that only a coffee could clear. So I decided to do a detox.
The problem is that all the top results for a "coffee detox" Google search say more or less: "yeah, you'll feel like crap for a week and then it's over". My problem was that it was definitely not over. I'd quit coffee, still feel like crap after a month, conclude that there is something wrong with my baseline energy levels, then experiment with a replacement (tea, decaf, guarana), then relapse back to four cups a day. I've spent a fortune on diets and supplements. I've been struggling to quit caffeine for over a year now.
That's when I found https://www.reddit.com/r/decaf/top/?t=all and realised that there was nothing wrong with me, and it does take six months to detox from a caffeine addiction. So I wanted to share that community with Indie Hackers.
Please pass it on to someone who's complaining that "they need to quit coffee" but can't seem to do it.
Hope to quit it for good this time.
@akfaew - This is interesting. Yeah, I like the comment in that thread that says "Caffeine is the worker bee drug."
Michael Pollan noted that he literally did not feel like himself when he was off caffeine for 3 months, and his interpretation is that his default consciousness was "caffeinated consciousness" so he in fact was not the same person while off of caffeine. As you noted, caffeine is a drug (psychoactive stimulant) so if we apply this analogy to meth, no one would find it odd that a former meth addict would say "I feel like a different person" when they are off meth. So maybe getting off caffeine gives us a perspective about how embedded into the mechanized system we were while on caffeine.
I just cut back from 4-5 cups/day to 1 cup and now I sip that cup in an exponential backoff loop in order to savour it as long as possible. : )
Coffee is the most loved beverage in the world. Many coffee lovers spend many bucks on a premium coffee cup from an expensive cafe. However, not everyone can afford to have a coffee daily at a cafe. best espresso machine

I don't understand why we need to give up coffee at all. If you drink 1-2 cups of really high-quality coffee a day, then nothing bad will happen. It is also a delicious drink. I'm buying coffee here now and I really like it. I haven't used coffee capsules before, but my friend showed them to me and I think now that it's very convenient.
I like your project idea. Can we embed this file with dynamic hosted website? I want to test it for my coffeemarto website.
