Collaboration baked right into the browser
Hello IH, hope everyone is safe.
My idea is a chrome extension which would let you write notes on any webpage of the internet. These notes can be shared with your co-workers. When they visit the same site they would be able to read those notes.
TL;Dr : This would be like a meta-layer on top of the brower which is where most work happens. Tasks can be assigned, How-tos can be attached, f/b can be reviewed.
Use cases:
Google sheets : General instructions such as file naming conventions, tutorials for filters, any sort of assigned tasks
Web Design : You're a web designer and you share your work with a client using ngrok and the client leaves feedback on the webpage which you can look into later
Copy-writing : An editor who is working with interns on google docs about several articles. The editor can leave f/b on different docs handled by different interns.
And any onboarding tasks.
You could leave voice notes. The notes can be linked to any page element such a paragraph, heading, div etc.
Would appreciate your honest feedback.
@Scarphaze - The idea sounds interesting, but I question whether or not it's too limited of an offering.
As a Product guy (20+ years), I have to collaborate with lots of folks (devs, UX, Marketing, writers, other entrepreneurs, QA -- pretty much everyone)
I've never felt overly limited in how to communicate & share information with others, since there are many tools available (one tool can't do everything people need).
I do like the voice notes option. Audio/video (screencasts, images with notations) help a lot with the exchange of ideas/information.
I've not used Evernote before, but I understand it has features where you can share information -- maybe not dynamically like you're suggesting.
The one obstacle you may run into is related to the tools that people are using. Google Docs is designed to be multi-user, but many other tools people use aren't.
So, if I'm a designer using a tool, I may not be able to share page because I'm using a tool where I have to login to.
Overall, I'm warm on the idea, but would have to dig a few layers deeper to see whether or not it would be a tool I could use instead of others I currently use.

Hi Sarthak, great of you to actually validate your idea before getting started! You've already done better than many other people here :-)
I like one of the problems you could chase: Big organizations struggle with training their employees in new tooling or functionality. Much of it is becoming web based, so you'll find boring manuals or an expensive video to be trained.
Some tools train you within the tool itself (these pop-up/tour guides), but I like that with your idea you can use 1 mechanism to train and remind people everywhere.
I would suggest you to pick 1 target audience and validate that they really have a pain that you could solve. Don't spread your attention over multiple use cases. Pick one that you think is highest value and reach out to potential customers.
