I've seen multiple posts along the lines of "let's follow each other on [whatever site/social channel]" and it got me thinking.
As an introvert myself, I know that building a following can be not just difficult but also a bit uncomfortable. And banding together with others is a proven growth hacking strategy.
But while having a following can help with spreading the word and promoting business ventures, the number of followers isn't as important as how active they are. That's why I'm thinking of building a community/platform that encourages sharing.
Members would be able to request support for specific goals such as upvoting on a specific site or sharing a link and help others with their goals. To make it easy, it would allow the member creating the request to write messages that would autofill in tweets, emails, etc.
There would be some sort of karma scoring system to motivate members to help as much as they ask for help. They more they help others, the more karma they would get (which would be visible to all) and give them priority in the order of listings.
It would also be broken into categories so that it would be more relevant than just random sharing.
Do you think this could help with your promotion efforts, especially if you don't already have a large following to tap into? Is it something you could see yourself using? And if so, would you pay a small subscription price if there were enough members to provide consistent value? Any other thoughts you could share that may help?
Hi Sean, this is a great idea! It would be cool if your app could tie into other communitys' user stats, e.g. IH, PH, etc, and pull their activity to see how they contribute to the community and have that count as a percentage of the score as well.
I think you'd have to build a strong user base before charging for access becomes viable. You could encourage early adopters by giving them a sweet deal on the price for life (so long as they keep an active subscription).
ALl the best!
