Come up with Solutions to problems not Ideas. Is the most helpful advice I've received. I've been thinking backwards this whole time.

This changed how I viewed it as well when I first heard this. Do you have a strategy to finding problems? Like picking an industry that you like and then search for problems they have?

I feel that it's still tough to just "find problems" even though it's easier to know when you've found one than "Find an idea".

'the problem to finding a problem'. the only problem the person facing is the sector of entrepreneurship. you cant just think of solutions to problems you have to find a problem first. how do you find problems? by having experiences in different sectors. idk maybe that jar of jelly or pickles is hard to open? has som1 tackled that problem? reeeeeeeeeeeeeee

That's right. You often need to have some experience in that sector to know where there are issues. So another method could be to find a target market that you want to serve and that you like talking to. For example "Freelancers" and then start to look into and talk to freelancers to see what kind of problems they are facing. So you're not going at the problem first and rather at a target market first.

Right on. People will pay to solve their problems not for your awesome ideas.
