Comment your project below & I will share with you 3 marketing tips to get started

Hello,

Just a short intro of me.

Tejas here from India. I left my high-paying SEO job in Dec 2021 to pursue indie hacking.

Currently, I am a co-founder & CMO of CampusTrail ( Study Abroad Consulting Firm) which is making $14k MRR.

I am building Affiliatecorner.co (A done-for-you research service for affiliate marketers out there).

Feel free to share your project below & I will comment with 3 Marketing Tips to get you started.

Also, let's get connected on Twitter too.

Hi Tejas, thanks for the offer.

I'd love to pick your brains.

What would you do to grow Zlappo?

    1. 2

      Hi Jay,

Zlappo currently is in a very tricky situation because there are a lot of Twitter scheduling tools out there.

The only way I see for Zlappo to grow is to somehow differentiate its product from other tools in the market.

Currently, I can see the market is dominated by Hypefury, Tweet Hunter, FeedHive.

All of the 3, provide a lot of features that Zlappo can't. So obviously when someone tries to subscribe they will go there.

So try to be different from these 3 products somehow and you can make some way into the market.

Messaging, Being a Differentiator will help you grow. That is what I feel.

      1. 2

        Thanks for your honest feedback.

I'm well aware of the competitive landscape, I understand the barriers to growth for my product. If I had a dollar for every user who said, "Why don't you add this feature that Hypefury/TweetHunter/whoever else has," I'd be rich.

Takes 5 seconds to suggest a feature, but it would take 5 months' worth of man hours to implement some of those features they're asking for.

I'm still a solo founder + freelancers (deliberately kept that way), so it will always be an uphill battle to compete against teams. Even if I achieve feature parity with these guys, I'll always be chasing from behind, and that's just not a viable path forward.

Being great isn't good enough when others are just better.

I think it takes a unique product vision, not just keeping up with the Joneses and copying others, to grow and thrive. I believe the Twitter automation market is actually large enough for sub-niches, and I'll be positioning/differentiating more for certain use cases than others, and I'll see how the market reacts.

Again, appreciate your blunt feedback, Tejas. πŸ‘

        1. 1

          Thanks Jay :)

The first thing I would do is Change the green accents in the site to a Twitter blue..

Green does not communicate your Messege.
Blue will make it easier to communicate your message.

    Hi! What a wonderful initiative!
I would love to hear your thoughts on unzip.dev

    1. 1

I am not able to understand your project. Your landing page too isnt talking much

      1. 2

Are you by any chance a developer? That would help me understand how to fix things :)

        1. 1

          No I am a marketer :)

          1. 2

Yeah, so now the question is if it is relevant to change the copy. Because I'm focusing on developers and I want mainly developers to join. What do you think?

  3. 2

Hey there Tejas, thanks for doing this!

    I’m working on https://driftly.app with @joehhoward. It’s a no-code platform for building product tours.

    What do you think?

  4. 2

    Heya Tejas! πŸ‘‹

    I'm building Simple Goods.

The product has some great marketing levers built in (customers embed it on their websites, has a visible powered-by link, etc).

I'm just getting started on my marketing journey. I'd love to know what tips you might have 😊

      Here's what I would recommend:-

      1. Instead of this rolling banner -> https://cln.sh/iSzqNd, I would recommend having live examples like Showcase where people can actually see how it is being used.

Once people know this is how Simple Goods can be used, they can relate to it and ultimately sign up.

Make your landing page more relatable. Also be specific who you are talking to.

Are you targeting content creators? Be sure to use the language of your customer.

      1. Write high intent blog posts for each use you have.

Eg:- If you think your tool can be used by creators who want to start a paid newsletter, then write a post like this :- "How you can use Simple Goods to start a paid newsletter"

Similarly, replicate for all use cases. This can be a great way to attract relevant traffic.

"How to Start Podcast Editing Services" - This is a top of the funnel post where you can drive traffic and subtly promote how Simple Goods can help them.

  5. 2

I have been working on ClearMoney.io - an app to help people plan their budgets and savings. What would you recommend?

  6. 2

Hi tejas, thanks for this and all d best for your new journey. what would you do to for my twtimgs tool to get more customers.

    1. 1

Currently apart from the hero image on the right, I am not able to visualize what twtimgs can do.

      Check brandbird app for inspiration.

The reason you might not be getting customers is visually appealing landing page and messaging.

Show what it can do. Let people upload the image right away on the page and let them play around.

Also, dont use $2/month pricing. It looks very cheap and devalues the product itself. Instead make it only annual (may be $29/$39) or life time deal of $69.

Need more templates too. So overall you need a product overhaul for your growth.

      1. 2

thanks for your valuable feedback. custom image upload feature is in progress and once it is built then will update it for all users. For landing page, you are right, there are lots of rework that need to do to tell what twtimgs is all about. Thanks for sharin the example and will update the landing page soon

hey Tejas,We are building a mobile classifieds ads in Somalia, iweydii.com. any tips for Iweydii to grow users?

  9. 2

Cheers, thanks for doing this! Followed you on Twitter too.

Would love to hear your view on Limiter, an open source platform for applying feature limits to your SaaS.

    applimiter.com

    1. 2

Absolutely love the idea. I think this is a really useful product. Here are some growth tips for you:-

      • I think your tool can be widely famous on Twitter Indie Space. I don't know if you are active but you should be if not.

      • Let 3-5 micro influencers on twitter who has a saas app use your tool. Then get their testimonials and build relationships with them. A single tweet from their account can get a lot of eyes on Twitter.

Obviously this will help you enter the twitter indie space and you can be more proactive sharing your tool and letting people know what it does.

      • A more long term approach for you would be content marketing and SEO. Pick 2-3 big problems that saas faces and tie it up with your solution. Write a good blog post or even a video tutorial.

This way you are attracting the exact audience you need.

      1. 2

Cool, this is great insight! I tried Twitter, but with my measly following, I didn't get much engagement at all as I was posting aimlessly. I'll be sure to try out your pro tip.

Content marketing is underway, have a few topics lined up :)

    Hi Tejas,

    Any marketing tips for https://www.secondthought.app?

    1. 1

      Interesting product.

I have 2 approach for this

      • Twitter - Check for people talking about "anxious thoughts", "getting anxious" and filter via top and recent tweets. Do reply them with a valuable reply and then drop a link

      • Next, Content Marketing & SEO. I assume the market you are in must have a lot of searches. Anxious thoughts is a really broad keyword. Target low competition and long tail keywords.

      check this list -> https://cln.sh/1Stjcy

Lot of blogs can be written. Eg:- how to control anxious thoughts and relevant topics that goes with your solution.

      1. 2

Thanks for the advice! I agree that content marketing would be a good approach to try. 😌

    Hi I'm building Utopiops (https://www.utopiops.com).

Heroku experience on your own AWS.

Our landing page doesn't convert users, what do you suggest?

    1. 3

Currently, your landing page is more about the features. Talk directly to your audience in your copy.

Use cloud without managing cloud looks like a very cliche sentence.

Instead use something like:- Use XYZ without worrying about ABC

Use something intriguing in your copy.

Talk about the problems your audience faces and then tie it up with your solution. Currently it feels like you are just talking about your solution

      1. 2

        Thanks,
Fair points, I'm adjusting my message and I have noticed we don't give a clear message.

  12. 2

Hi Tejas, thank you for your kindness.
Currently, I am working on flomo. It's a note-taking tool for quick jotting down ideas on the go.
What would you do to grow flomo?

    1. 1
      • Can you make your site more interactive? Perhaps help users take notes with a demo page and let them feel the app directly without signing up.

This will reduce friction and more people will sign up.

      • Next, showcase what you can do with this app. Probably a video would be very nice. Also, share this on Twitter publicly and daily.

Let people notice that there's a simple note taking app. You have to make some noise about this.

      • One more thing, the color shades of this website is very dull. I cant even read some of the sentences. Please do improve that.
      1. 2

Thank you so much. One more bother. Would you mind to highlight a few areas that you can't even read?

        1. 1

The top sub headline in grey.

          1. 1

Get it. Thank you a lot!

    Hi @tejas3732
thank you so much for offering to help.
We just release https://www.tuktuk.com/ (webapp and browser extension)
How do you think we should approach our marketing.

  21. 1

    Hey, thanks for doing this!

I'm building MekaBytes.com, it is pre-launch right now, so the landing page is just informational, but I am also thinking longer term.

I think share links will be very important, so if there is a funny photo that is annotated, it can be shared and previewed. Similarly, making sure datasets are browsable.

I think early I will be targeting university students / researchers, so I might need to cold email some professors and hope they tell their students about it.

I will also soft launch and use the site for a while for my own needs. So hopefully I'll be launching with some datasets for people to use!

    Any tips are appreciated!

  22. 1

    My project is Leansence.
    It's newly launched.
I am new to marketing so your tips would be highly valuable to me.

    1. 2

hey, i think it would be better if u could use human voice on your video, idk why but i am not connected to the landing page video. good luck

      1. 1

Hey there, I have updated the landing with new content and a new demo video.
I would be glad if you can take time to check it out.
        Thanks.

        1. 2

WOW awesome, i liked the typing and the emojis! yupp keep it up

    2. 2

Here are some tips for you:-

      1. The landing page that you currently have has a lot of information about features and what your product does. You need to improve the copy and change the messaging towards how it solves your target audience's problem.

Currently I feel very overwhelmed as to what is happening.

You certainly need to remove many parts and clear your messaging.

Justin Walsh has a good copywriting formula for this. Read his post here -> https://www.justinwelsh.me/blog/03262022?s=08

      1. Next I would suggest you to share your journey on Twitter. Build, sell in public. This way you have an audience that is watching you.

      2. You may also want to add some case studies as to why your tool is so effective in building online presence or just testimonials.

      1. 2

Thanks, that's some great feedback on the landing page.
I will look into the link you provided and update it.

By the way, do you think I should move my features to a different page perhaps? Like a dedicated /features page.

        1. 1

Right now its okay. Features should come last in your landing page.

Focus on the problem first, then agitate that problem, add some intriguing copy and make your customer interested.

Then you can tie up with how your product can help solve that problem.
