Comments beat lurking. Here's what I learned from 100+ deep engagement threads

Been spending time reading builds on Indie Hackers and actually engaging instead of just scrolling. Three things I notice:

  1. The signal-to-noise ratio jumps when you comment. You read the post, read other comments, think about what's actually smart vs obvious. Takes 5 min, beats 30 min of passive reading.

  2. Every question you ask leads somewhere real. Not "how do I grow faster" but "did you find your first customers where you expected?" People answer that. You learn.

  3. The founders worth knowing are the ones who engage back. Not broadcast-only. So engagement becomes the filter for who to follow.

Biggest shift: from "I'll build stuff and they'll notice" to "they'll notice because I'm thoughtfully present."
