Was wondering what tools are good for understanding competitors customers? Actually it's not so much a competitor but a platform that we are integrating with and wanting to know the inside out details of their customers.
Is SPYFU worth it? At $10 month?
A really good tip I learned from an IH podcast episode was to google "<Competitor Name> Reviews" and go to the Capterra, TrustRadius, or G2 page. Read the reviews from the customers right there for Pros and Cons and you'll start to be able to pick out themes. I think this exercise and discipline has been really helpful for me.
If you're looking for a pure software solution, Datanyze (although at it's full tier is expensive) will allow you to see the software tech stacks of different companies (so you can search by your customers or search your competitors even).

That's next level to what I'm doing. Thanks for the tip, and I'll definitely try that!
You can search your competitors Twitter and Linkedin profiles to see the people following the competitor. Not all followers might be customers but it's likely a good percentage might be customers of the product/service.
check https://www.similarweb.com/ - they aggregate information about many different apps and saas' - in terms of traffic and search rankings. Perhaps it's exactly what you are asking but I personally used when wanted to learn how other similar startups are gaining their users.
Surely these are some good tips, although manual methods are slightly sparse and cumbersome. LinkedIn followers is a groovy idea . I was ideally hoping for an all in one really to just spit out , customers avg age, occupation, gender, organic keyword traffic, organic off page links, maybe some word clouds, just the juicy nuggets.
Does Facebook AdWords tool have any reveals to see some data based on who likes a certain page?
Thanknyou
I don't personally think SpyFu is worth it. You can get the same data, possibly at a more detailed and granular level, by doing some manual Googling and poking around.
You can also see a lot of this data from within the Google Ads interface and the Keyword Planner.
All I can think to get the deep insights you're looking for is Googling their name and looking at blogs/articles about the product, then looking at the demographics of those sources.
I guess if you are integrating and therefore complimentary (adding value or bringing customers to their product) you could ask them directly or ask to send a survey to their customers. That's a challenge if they may compete with you, shut down your access, etc.
Another option is look at their social media and see who they are interacting with and who is following them. Twitter & LinkedIn are best for this IMO. Then you can message those customers and ask for feedback.
