Ring alone has been downloaded over 40 million times and dominates the category, but it's still a fundamentally reactive system: record motion, send alert, let the homeowner sort out what actually happened. Ring paid a $5.8M FTC settlement in 2023 over employee access to customer footage.
Eufy had a public incident where allegedly local-only cameras were found uploading to the cloud without consent. Wyze had roughly 13,000 users briefly see other users' camera feeds during a server restart. Trust and actual intelligence are both still unsolved in this category, not just detection accuracy.
It's on .app too, Google's own TLD that comes with mandatory built-in HTTPS across every site, no configuration needed.
