Confidently change the technology of your product

Hi all!

I'm Harm, founder of https://disknotifier.com.

And I might have a problem. I changed the technical bones of my sales website. For the fourth time! 🤓

Previously I wrote about how everything constantly changed, and it still does, apparently. This time I switched from some homegrown semi-static website to Hugo.

The work was significant, and I've ended up with the same website. But the previous version was too constrained. So now I can tag blog posts and quickly write new posts. I also have a dynamic page on which shows the recent posts.

Hugo is a large, mature website generator, and it took me significant time to learn the ropes. But in the end, I believe it is worth it.

I'm building this project for profit, but certainly also for fun. That means I need to have fun working with the tools I'll be using daily. If that means painful re-thinks or re-writes, so be it. Your project depends on you having fun. When that stops being the case, the project is dead. I hate dead projects.
