Connecting influencers with businesses

Hello to all,

I wanted to hear your opinions on this idea I've been thinking about lately. Let's start.

I thought about some platform where influencers could register with their accounts (Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, etc.) and get ranked by some criteria and categorized. There also should be a side of that platform where businesses could search for influencers they need by these criteria, category, etc. and contact them for deals.

For example: I'm running a butcher shop and I want someone to promote my products online, the best fit for me would probably be influencers in the area of cooking or something like that but there are many of them and which one to choose? How to contact them? Did someone collaborated with them already? What are some experiences of that collaboration?

I know this is a weird example but it is literally from the real world where I found people debating about it.

I'm looking for people that were faced with this issue or still facing, or possibly solved it and if they can share how they solved it. Also, any other suggestions are welcomed.

There are already hundreds of platforms doing this. Which means that there is a market.

    1. Most of these platforms are a one-size-fits-all kind of platform. That means there's space for niche-specific platforms. Niche down 2-3 times and pick something worthwhile that you enjoy as well. Something like 'Travel' > Niche down to 'Travel to beach towns' > Niche down to 'Surfing'.

    2. This is not big within B2B yet. Though influencer marketing is smaller within B2B - think influencers talking about building e-commerce stores, doing marketing, helping small businesses, helping developers start their side projects, etc.

    3. There's not really a 'very specific location' kind of influencer platform either. Like you mentioned in your intro, it could be a local butcher shop. Most influencers are worldwide or country-specific. Might be interesting to see if there's something there, maybe IG/FB/YouTube accounts doing stuff like 'cool places in Chicago' or whatever but smaller cities. Like Groupon, but for influencer marketing.

Thank you for responding! Interesting, this is definitely one of the possibilities, soon I will iterate more on this idea and I will keep in mind these points.

I have seen a few platforms that are doing this already. Here's some examples https://www.heepsy.com/

Wow, I haven't been aware of that. Thanks for pointing it out.

It seems that everybody is pointing at search engines for influencer when you want to be more like a middle man between influencers and product owners.
I don't know if it exists but I would definitely be interested in such a service!

Thank you! That is exactly what I want to build! :)

At one point I even thought that it can be something like Upwork for influencers and product owners. It is still a raw idea and I still need to validate each variation of it before building anything but in its core it is imagined as a middle man as you pointed out.

If you're interested in this I can keep you posted about this when I make some more progress.
