For two years, I faithfully used Bublup to manage bookmarks for my newsletter https://www.thelandofrandom.substack.com but those days have come to an end.
Why?
I needed to streamline and simplify my content workflow.
I needed a Bookmark Manager that I could use to automate content collection. For example, every time I want to share something to Bublup - I have to go and save it in a particular collection. It probably takes 5-10 seconds, but even that can be exhausting if you happen to find 10 product hunt finds you want to save.
I wanted a solution where I could simply like or save content on a particular platform - and save it directly to my bookmark manager.
You see - about a month ago I created a Telegram bot that sent a crap ton of RSS content to me every day. Well - this thing would send about 300 links a day - and I quickly became exhausted.
What other sort of content curation automation could I employ?
So - I did the unthinkable, and started exploring other bookmark managers.
I discovered that Raindrop.io offered IFTTT integrations - and made the switch immediately. Using IFTTT recipes - I have now automated saving the following to bookmark folders.
This allows me to curate and save content faster than ever before.
On top of that - I've added a IFTTT recipe that automatically saves all Raindrop links to a Google Sheet - a great way to save content in an easy-to-organize place - especially if I want to share a list of links or something.
I'm currently exploring IFTTT RSS recipes to take my curation another step.
What do you use to organize your bookmarks? I'd love to hear about your workflows and ideas.
If we are talking about content curation & organization than I must mention https://www.clipd.io , we have just launched version 2 and we have far more advanced features then raindrop or any current bookmark manager in the market. In fact clipd.io is the only knowledge management platform that let’s you create both list based and sections based boards. with advanced auto tagging, article view with position tracking, full text search etc to name a few.
We realized the importance of list based organization and section based organization, so we incorporated both in our platform. I’d encourage you to have a look at our new trailer (only 2 minutes) on our website.
Very interesting! I'm very partial to app based stuff but your product looks neat.
Interesting! Is google sheets the best place to view and browse all your curated content?
I have similar problems, there is the rise of Mailists and other "digests". I've created my own digest with zapier which is pretty easy. Getting that to a digestable place is always the problem imo.
I think it's a good place If you want to share content in a template of some kind. I don't really use it to view content.
I can actually view content in Raindrop which is pretty nice!
good post
I love using raindrop too. So much so that as a beginner blogger I even wrote a post about it. https://roshanhegde.com/35367/raindrop-probably-the-best-bookmark-manager-around
Hi there. That's a great round-up about how content curation can be done. If I may, would like you to have a look at https://linkish.io/
As you might know that they launched in 2013 and we launched just 10 months ago but we are still probably the closest competition to them in terms of features and we have a few more upcoming that you won't find in any other product.
Let me know if you would like to know about linkish and I would love to tell you more in detail. We also have an LTD coming up so you can enjoy most of the features for a fixed amount for life.
Nice! The save links as pdf is a cool feature
