Content Marketing vs. Ads

Just starting out, and need to get leads. Content marketing has usually been my default, but I'm not sure I have the time or bandwidth to attract customers that way. I also don't have the time to wait for organic traffic to start coming to my very brand new site.

So here's the question: are ads a good solution in the meantime? And if so, what are some suggestions on how to spend/setup ads?

The target market is a complete website service offering in the form of a subscription. Software as a Service is probably closer to what it's called.

There is often confusion between content marketing and ads.
    ----

    • Content marketing is what you do in the vacuum of someone’s mind to develop awareness, interest, and trust.

    • Ads are what you pay someone to do for you in the vacuum of someone’s mind.
      ----

    • Someone’s perception of an ad is a direct result of what they’re expecting to see.

    • Someone’s perception of your content is a direct result of what they read, watch, or hear.
      ----

    • Content marketing is branding and marketing by proxy.

    • Ads grab attention.
      ----

    • Content is branding and marketing by design.

    • Content marketing is for long-term influence that ads can’t achieve.
      ----

    • Ads require immediate, in-your-face, in-your-face-into-your-brain-type exposure.

    • Content is for longer-term influence, and not the in-your-face type.
