Contest my vision: there will be the day when our grandchildren will mock us for having to learn different languages.
Over the years it has become natural for Human beings to learn new languages. There are even those splendid people who speak lots of different languages.
For example, I speak Portuguese (my official language), Spanish, English, and French.
But sincerely? I deeply believe there will be the day when our grandchildren will mock us for having to learn different languages.
That will be the day when translators simply work.
Someone speaks to me in Russian and I simply understand that person. Then I speak to her in Portuguese and that person will understand me too. And that's it, easy speaking.
That will be the day when the last frontier of civilization will be torn down.
There will be no more talking loud or cursing others when traveling! 😂

Basically already here. Great for business & travel. But will always feel artificial. Can you add augmented reality to video dub their mouths in synch please.
The other thing is that different languages convey different meanings. Every language has expressions in it that just don't work as well when translated. Even now, people learn Ancient Greek and Latin because they want to understand and experience writings from that era in a deeper way. We may not need to learn languages as much at a superficial level for ease of travel but there will always be a desire for it.
