Currently - even though clients like to track tasks in tools like trello, I'm a bit pedantic in tracking my tasks and time in a single place. My tasks and time are in excel, and I currently use the free plan on ZipBooks (which is limited to a single client). Come invoice time though, it always takes some time transferring all the tasks and allocated time into an invoice suitable to send. Tracking metrics and earnings estimations is also a very manual task.
I've released the first private beta of Remotime, which is an app to track your time, tasks and invoicing. I would love to have your feedback - sign up by following this link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/WN8N83G
I use TaskWorld to track time and tasks. The cost per year is less than $200--I don't remember how much exactly. I also list task on Excel and Google Cal, though. I need backups of my backups. Invoice via PayPal for most clients, I use a custom template for one. Metrics is a manual process for me too. I use Excel.
Thanks for the reply.
ito "I need backups of my backups" - would an app with a cloud backend be sufficient for your needs, or would you want something like an excel export feature as well?
I think I am the only person in the world who is still using desktop for everything. So I would be less likely to use an app. I keep information in several places to combat ADHD. So triple listing makes it more likely that I won't overlook a to do.
That's a good question re what people consider sufficient back-up though. I back my accounting software on a second drive. I have the option to csv my task management data but never remember to do it.
By 'app', I actually include desktop apps. I'm the same - I think I'd prefer a desktop app over a mobile app to track my tasks / time / invoice - but mobile is always good when desktop isn't available.
Trying to build both - but currently mobile-first :)
