I did a quick write-up on how I use Cloudinary and S3 in combination to get the full benefits of Cloudinary while mitigating costs from creeping up by having all of my media hosted there.

I think, especially as a bootstrapper, it's good to manage yours costs where you can and I am quite happy with this solution.
