Convection roast my landing page!

https://www.striiim.com

My app is a shopping list app BUT:

  1. It's the only one on the market that is totally free with no ads.

  2. It's aimed at parents who need to collaboratively share their grocery list in real time.

My problem is:

  1. I have a very low user sign up conversion rate.

Thanks!

    Hey!

I'd love to give some feedback based on my initial thoughts.

So, the first thing I notice is your target market (parents) aren't mentioned anywhere on your page. When I read this post, as a parent, I thought "Oh okay, this could be interesting - let me check it out".

When I arrive on the LP, I don't really know where to look first. There's no visual hierarchy within the text or the layout.

It says "Welcome to (what we hope will become) the world's easiest shopping list!" - What we hope will become? Who's we? Why do I hope this becomes the world's easiest shopping list? Why is my current solution a busted leg? How does this app make it better? There's nothing aspirational here or highlighting the benefits of the product.

It's great that you've highlighted that it's free, there's no in-app purchases, and no subscriptions - but what is it? How do I use it? How does it help me? Is it web-based (I presume so because I'm being asked to sign in)? Can I download it in the app store? Can I use it on my phone? I hope so, because that's what I've got with me when I'm shopping.

Does it work with online shopping? Is it purely for groceries?

Filter by store sounds cool - but what does that mean? Filter what? Location? Type of store? Brand of store?

Sort by refrigeration need? I don't know what that means. Explain it to me like I'm five.

Share your list with family, friends or co-workers. How? Why? What benefit does that give me that sending a DM doesn't?

The landing page is meant to answer questions and explain the product, benefits and create desire super quickly. This LP is making me as the user confused, and try and do all the work of figuring it out.

Then, you've let people know the app is in BETA (fine) "it will have some bugs" - you don't need to tell people this. That only deters me from wanting it, even though I don't know what the app is or what it does, or how it helps me.

The feedback form at the end of the LP is unnecessary. You can ask people that once they've used it via email. You're also asking them what they dislike about it, which straight away sets the tone that I'm probably going to hate this app, and you know it, and want me to tell you why.

There's no use of imagery or interesting visuals to engage me. There's no positive tone of voice - lots of "we hope it will become", "there'll be bugs", "what do you dislike" - you're not selling it at all.

    So, to sum up:

    • Use visual hierarchy in your content and layout to direct my attention
    • Bring some imagery in there (the app itself, people using it, how it looks on mobile, iconography, stock imagery, illustration - just something to make it more interesting)
    • Sell the product. Tell me what it is, what it does and how it helps me - and do it above the fold.
    • get rid of the negative, defeatist language throughout the page. You're meant to be getting me excited about this amazing new solution. Sell me!!

    I hope this helps!
