Converting free trials to paid users is harder than it looks (building LiftMRR)

Hi everyone,

After trying out a few SaaS ideas, one thing kept frustrating us: getting users to convert from free trials to paid. We noticed the simplest solution was well-timed email campaigns — reminders, feature highlights, even simple “here’s what you might be missing” messages.

But setting up these automated flows is harder than it should be, especially if you just want to connect Stripe and quickly target trial users.

So we’re working on LiftMRR — a lightweight tool to help Stripe customers run automated campaigns that encourage trial → paid conversion. It’s still very early, and we’d love your feedback?

Great idea, trial conversion is a huge lever. I'm building something complementary on the other end of the funnel: MRRX intercepts cancellations and presents retention offers (pause, discount, downgrade) when a Stripe subscriber tries to leave. Together these two tools would cover the full subscriber lifecycle. Would love to chat about a potential integration or cross-promotion.

Isn't it a bad idea to release it as a paid app right away?

Its completely free right now :)

This is a much-needed product. 👏 Totally agree that the trial → paid gap is usually where most early-stage SaaS projects stall and it’s rarely a product issue, it’s timing + messaging. Making it dead simple to hook into Stripe and run those ‘nudge’ campaigns automatically is super valuable. Would love to see support for behavioral triggers down the line (e.g. hasn’t used X feature yet). Excited to follow along!

Thank you. That is exactly what we want to build over time

Interesting wedge. Must haves for me: auto segments from Stripe events like trial_will_end and payment_failed, a holdout test to prove lift, and a one click trial extension or coupon. Nice to have: a light SDK for in app nudges, a deliverability checklist with SPF DKIM DMARC, and simple templates per product. How will pricing work, and do you send through my ESP or your own sender?

That is what exactly where we are headed towards. For pricing, we want to just charge XX$ per month for platform/analytics, for emails we will work with user's own ESP.

Sounds good :) Flat monthly for platform and analytics makes sense. Day one needs for me are Stripe based segments like trial will end and payment failed, a built in holdout to prove lift, and a one click trial extension or coupon. Happy to try it when ready.

By the way we could partner up. I am building HustleAdvisor, a social network for entrepreneurs. If you join the waitlist now, at launch in 17 days you could publish a short post about building LiftMRR on our platform and we will boost it in the main feed so more people see it.

Makes a lot of sense. Trial conversion is one of those levers that can make or break SaaS growth, yet most people hack it together with clunky tools. A plug and play layer on top of Stripe sounds like it could save teams a ton of setup pain. How customizable are the campaigns right now?

Thanks. Right now its email automation on top of Stripe triggers and works with sendgrid/resend. The triggers are predefined but the emails, schedule etc are fully customizable.

I want to add more email providers, more data sources like google analytics and more comms channels like Whatsapp etc over time.
