Hi guys,
While working with clients, we bumped into this problem...
Converting a Sketch design to html/css is quite time consuming, and we decided to solve our own itch by building an internal tool. Now, we're wondering whether this is a widespread itch among the Indie Hackers community...
What we're thinking of MVP is the following:
You send Sketch designs. We deliver a progressive web/mobile app with html and css with no backend. You can easily showcase the frontend of the app to customers prior to building a backend. Once you're set with the frontend and UX, you can then focus on building the backend of your app. This is exactly how we are using our internal tool :) We save A LOT of time.
Let me know if you have any thoughts, feedback, known competitors, current workarounds you use or interest in giving it a spin!
Nice idea..You guys are doing good.. I have opted Sketch to HTML service from https://www.csschopper.com. They are very well in offering Sketch to code service at reasonable price. Just check them out. They have well-versed developers who provide on-time, qualitative service and good customer support.
I would be interested in this. I also generally would like help with design improvement to make things look and feel way better than I can, but that's another hard services part that I'm assuming you're trying to avoid by specializing on only the conversion to code.
You're exactly right, Justin. We focus on the conversion part. I'll reach out separately to see if this tool can be a good fit for you.
sadly there are a couple of these already out there: https://www.psd2html.com does sketch and figma too... BUT cool idea! you can always do a spin on it. Competition is a good thing
Thank you, Tayler. We'll look into psd2html.com. Curious to try them out!
Hi Tayler, we looked into psd2html.com. We see that they charge $298 per page. We think that this price is overinflated. We estimate 10x-20x lower in price.
I am curious if you know any competitors who are in $10 range. It would be super helpful for us to look into them.
Yes - we would be interested in this. We lucked out and have a good UI designer who also codes the html/css for us before he delivers but he could leave us one day. This sounds like a productized service and not necessarily a SaaS opportunity though because I don't have enough projects to warrant paying every month each year.
I am glad that you find this useful. I'll reach out separately.
The business model is still an exploration, because we'd like to understand how much saving and convenience we bring into your business. And, we want to cut that cost by 10x and speed this process up significantly.
