Hey everyone!
Let me be honest: I'm not a developer at all — this is just a hobby. I built this entire app with Claude Code because I was curious. The idea came from my family's laziness — we wanted something that could just tell us what to cook with whatever random ingredients we had, so we wouldn't have to think too hard or make another trip to the store. We ended up really loving it ourselves, so I thought maybe other families would find it useful too. This is a free website — I don't want to make money from it at all!
Quick note on how it works: you start by setting up your preferences (skills, cuisine interests, allergies, etc.). Then you can generate recipes using AI depending on your mood: lazy, feeling fancy, only using what’s in your fridge, or something more advanced (sweets, main dish, starter, drinks, etc.). Add missing ingredients to your shopping list and, once bought, to your family fridge. You can share recipes with family members, create a family cookbook and download it, and follow instructions in a cooking mode easily!
The app uses your own API key with OpenRouter, OpenAI, or Claude for recipe generation. I recommend creating a fresh API key and setting a spending limit. The app also tracks how many tokens and how much money you've spent. OpenRouter offers some free models if you want to try it out without any cost. I've mostly used paid models, but the free versions of Llama and Gemma might work too — with a bit more effort.
Would love to hear what you think — especially if you spot things that could be better. Thanks for checking it out!
PS. You can also try making Lord of the Rings-inspired recipes :D
Love how this started from a real need and turned into something so practical. Great use of AI — shows how powerful simple ideas + modern tools can be. Inspiring stuff!
Thank you so much!
Just gave this a spin and I can already tell it’s going to make meal planning so much easier. It lets you build a shared space with your household where everyone can contribute to a common fridge and shopping list — super handy!
What I love is how personalized it is: you choose what you like, your cooking level, any dietary restrictions, and even the kind of vibe you’re going for (yes, even quirky ones like “Star Wars”!). Then it generates recipes based on what you have, how much effort you feel like putting in, and your preferences.
It’s clean, intuitive, and works beautifully on mobile — I added it to my home screen and it behaves like a native app. Can’t wait to explore it more and see how it evolves!
Thank you so much!
