Copy tips & tricks I’ve learned after writing 300+ landing pages

Great ideas live and die by how well you communicate them. If your landing page copy isn't up to scratch, it honestly doesn't matter how beautiful your design is, or how slick your UX is, you're setting yourself up to fail.

I often check out the #landing-page-feedback channel on IH and see the same issues come up over and over again.

So, to help you nail your copy first time round, here's a simple checklist to make sure you're not making any avoidable mistakes:

✅ Make your copy action focused.
Start each sentence with a verb (Do, See, Build, Get, Power, Achieve...), particularly in headings and subheadings - don't just write a statement.

✅ Talk about your customers, not about you.
Do you say 'we' or 'our' more than once on the landing page? If so, rewrite it. Your visitors need to be able to imagine themselves in your product, help them do this.

✅ Frame your features as benefits.
Don't just say what your product does. Outline clearly why your visitors should care it does this.

✅ Keep. It. Simple.
Choice overload is a real thing — people respond better to fewer options, so keep it simple.

✅ Don't make your visitors feel stupid
Don't use jargon. Ever. Keep it real and don't try to be complex. Limit each paragraph to a few sentences at most, and communicate your product in language that even a total newb would understand.
