Copywriting Issue (I'm lost)

Hi guys,

I'm confused about copywriting issues. I start to market my application and clearly need a good copywriting for my emails.

When I looking for copywriter, their budget can show huge differences and I don't know how to evaluate offers.

I just made a few sale and try to reach a wider audience. What is your recommendation for copywriting? What should I do?

Personally I look at three things:

Are they asking mid-to-high level fees? This means they have enough work to not reduce their price, or they have confidence they are good copywriters and don't want to waste time on cheap clients.

Are they a B2B business writer, or a B2C consumer writer, and which do you need? You don't see that many writers who are equally effective in both spaces. The first writer is good for longform pieces like case studies and blog posts, where the second will do a better job on that 200 perfect words you need to sell on your website. The second job, imo, is significantly harder than the first.

Finally, does the writer have experience with your market? Are they willing to provide examples of work that prove they understand how to address that space (or a space that's closely adjacent)?

    Hope that helps.

      Great advice! Thanks a lot @ldnflds ...

Do you any website recommendation for me? I tried UpWork so far.

        Welcome.

I use Upwork as well, to variable results.

        I've not used these two
        https://www.textbroker.com/
        https://problogger.com/jobs/

They were recommended here https://docs.google.com/document/d/1QB2RothR2g-S-d85O_WdPCVhSxpKBRJe9I-8XN-kQBA/edit, a document that describes a process for managing copywriters. (It's not a process I 100% agree with - personally I would never accept work from a client who reserves the right to change how much you're paid on a whim. But the rest of it is useful.)

I have tried upwork copywriters lately (cheap ones). This doesn't speak for all copywritters at upwork (probably many are good), but the result was so disappointing. For now I'm writing myself until I find a reliable alternative.

Actually I talked with a few writers but I clearly saw that was coming. It makes me think again about it...

I have written three articles myself. I think I know, but obviously, I am not a writer. Is it a bit disappointing to have to do that myself. Maybe it's a matter of practice, but it took me 2-3 hours to write each article.

        What do you? 😛

If you want your website to be written in English and it's not your native language then do yourself a favor and get a copywriter. Nothing will diminish trust in your product or service like a badly written website filled with grammar errors.

You can do your own copywriting.

And I'm even starting to think that copywriting is something that can't (or at least shouldn't) be outsourced.

You know your own target customers best.

No copywriter, no matter how good, understand them like you do.

My favorite copywriting tip is to basically use your own customers' words back at them:

    1. 1

I completely agree with you! However I'm not a native speaker this makes me think...

Also I run some tests and my test result surprise me. My favorite one generally perform worse so this make me think again. "Should I do it?"

Do you mind sharing your website link or copy for a free review?

      2. 1

Maybe you can share your landing page or emails here, so people here can offer feedback for improvement?

I honestly don't agree with the previous comment you've received. Every competent copywriter has "audience research" as a crucial part of their workflow before even putting pen to paper.
@mtufekyapan, since you can't learn the skill and execute it on your own due to language barriers, copywriters usually charge on a per word basis ($0.25 USD per word and up) or project based.
I'm in a few groups with them. Like: https://www.facebook.com/groups/CopyKooksClub

If you want good copywriting courses, here's a short and affordable one (though you'll need lots of practicing to go from amateur to expert):https://www.udemy.com/course/the-complete-copywriting-course/

This stance has no basis in reality. If you can't communicate what you need to a copywriter in a clear, assertive manner, there's still some work to do.

Devaluation of the form comes precisely because leaders don't know how to delegate these tasks effectively.

    Hello Mohammed.

My name is Aaybee and I am a conversion copywriter

Sorry for your dilemma. You can send your website link to me to review and the emails you already have and if it's okay with you I can rewrite them for you for free.

    How does that sound.

Hey, I have had this struggle recently -I actually wrote it as a comment-. But I figured out a way to filter bad from good copywriters:

Please let me know what you think.

Hire a professional one. It's worth the extra cents. :)

    1. 1

I bet it does worth it but finding the right talent is something I can't figure out.

I recently discovered CopyAI and similar services. It really does a lot of magic ...

    1. 1

I tried a few of them but I find them very basic.

      1. 1

What do you mean by basic? I was looking into them so I’m curious you thoughts before I get started with them vs others…

        1. 2

Their output says nothing. I prefer my copy over them. It is looks like "SEO articles"

I want copy texts that create interest on the reader and tell my value proposition.

    Hi Muhammed,

What are you selling? Do you have a website I can take a look at?

    1. 1

      Hi @SweaterHacker,

I'm working on a Shopify app. https://apps.shopify.com/growth-suite is my app detail page.

        Hi Muhammed,

Here are 5 filters you might find helpful when selecting a copywriter:

        Filter #1: Eliminate "hypey" copywriters.
These are copywriters who use exaggerated language and lots of exclamation points. This approach is loud and obnoxious. Good copy doesn't need to scream to get attention.

Filter #2: Do they actually understand psychology?
Funnily enough, copywriting has little to do with writing. Most of the work is in understanding the audience and the psychology behind why they make decisions. Does the copywriter you are considering have a complete understanding of cognitive biases? Do they understand the relationship between thought, emotion, behavior and beliefs?

Filter #3: Do they have a system?
Ask them what their process is. Generally, the more systematized they are, the more experienced they are. Do they they have a system for editing their work? Good copywriters place a larger emphasis on editing than they do on writing.

Filter #4: Do they guarantee their work?
A good guarantee demonstrates a healthy level of confidence. Not all copywriters are willing to do this, but it helps if you find one that does. Example: I offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee. You love it or its free.

Filter #5: Do they offer "A/B" testing elements?
As you saw yourself, sometimes you think something will work and then it doesn't. Other times you might think something will fail and then it succeeds. Good copywriters don't make unfounded assumptions. They test multiple iterations and let the results speak for themselves.

I hope you find this helpful :)
