They pitch ideas in three parts:
• Emphasize what's bad about life (red)
• Explain their solution (green)
• Point out how life is now better (purple)
What do we all think about this? Anything to add/subtract?
Seems simple, but also hard to do well!
I wonder if any of these companies use the same copywriting agency.
He (@julian) clarifies that he made some adjustments to the copy to further illustrate the point. So I think he's speaking more to the general framework employed.
Also worth pointing out that plenty of successful startups have terrible copywriting/none to speak of....
Wow, if anything, thank you for posting the tweet link here on IH as the original has since been deleted. Julian applied too much creative liberty in how he propped up the copy of the 4 startups in his "case study".
I saw it when it went viral with 12k+ likes, but didn't remember to save a link to it. Was almost losing my mind today when I couldn't find the tweet in my browser history. Luckily, I thought of searching here on IH to see if it generated any discussion and here I am 😉.
Thank you!
I visited each company and could not find any of the copy mentioned...I understand he mentions he changed it, but we re talking... very very big changes here.
Wow! I took it at fiat too...
Super interesting and good catch @orliesaurus
