Cost me $61,038 to earn $10.

Hi Fellow Indie Hackers,

I have been trying to build products since October 2020. I worked solo trying to sell a SAAS to companies like Unacademy.

I also worked with two other founders to build a product for the Manufacturing industry.

But things failed a lot of times. The amount of rejection from users, potential cofounders, and friends is enormous.

I have built and tried more than 6 products in the span of two years but none of them worked out.

I was craving what it feels like to receive a stripe payment notification.

One day I got the stripe payment notification from one of my most unexpected products. I built a chrome extension called Orso for my personal use and published it on the chrome store.

Over time, it started getting downloads and one day I got an email regarding a bug with the extension from one of my users. It was a different experience. I immediately fixed the bug and deployed it.

Slowly the total user base grew to 100 people and I thought of adding a stripe payment page.

To my surprise, somebody subscribed to my extension subscription plan. It's one of the best feelings.

If I look back opportunity cost of leaving the job and doing indie hacking is $61,038.

But it's definitely worth it. I have learned a lot more than from my normal job.
