Could this work? (a retro-looking notification device)
Hi everyone,
So, I'm creating a mechanical "order notification device" that turns on every time there's a new sale on your website. It's a retro-looking police light with embedded speakers so that it can play your favorite song, or that lovely "ka-ching" sound effect for a proper celebration! It looks like this:
I use it for my online shop with my wife, and it's been really fun so far. It's pretty motivating to see it turns on and definitely spreads excitement around when it happens.
I thought other indie hackers, shop owners, etc might enjoy having one too for their own products or startups. So I started working on a prototype, and I'm currently trying to gauge if this thing actually has any commercial potential. I'm working on a landing page (very much work in progress):
Curious to see if anybody other than myself finds this cool? Creating hardware/IoT stuff is pretty tricky and expensive, so I'm hesitant to produce a first batch if nobody really cares. Anyway, any thoughts? Ideas? Recommendations?

Love this. Built something similar at my last co using Alexa + zapier + stripe + Sonos + https://www.smiirl.com/en/counter/custom/5D
Whenever a customer added their payment in our product Alexa would say “new subscription alert.” And the counter would update. The zap was also responsible for sending a slack notification with customer name and subscription value.
It was a huge pain to set up but it was the best I could come up with at the time (nothing out of the box a year ago when I was looking). The team loved it and it made the scary leap to start charging our customers more fun. Nice way to celebrate early wins.
Awesome. I also did some test with Alexa, the voice would tell me the amount of the order. That's pretty cool. At some point I'd love to add this in the product in the future maybe. But for now I just want to make it the simplest possible.
@slhomme - I like it. I can see a ton of different use-cases for it.
