Hey everyone!
I'm currently on the verge of transmission from a full-time in-house marketer to a per-piece work. Plus, I'm digging into the concept of agency work.
Yet, my problem is that I don't know how much to charge per piece. I realize that a per-word basis is not a good way to be charged (nor to charge someone) as it incentivizes to 'game' your writing. Thus, I'm thinking about a flat fee per article.
You'll find my blog posts over here: https://www.channels.app/blog (95% of the content).
Would really appreciate it if anyone who has some experience in hiring freelancers/agencies/contractors (or is one!) gave me an estimate of how much I should charge for such pieces (mostly ~3000 words in length).
Thanks!
Great question! I've done some paid technical pieces in the past. It varies, but usually they pay per article. It ranged from $150-$550.
Have you seen "Who Pays Technical Writers" by @philipkiely? Might be worth checking out.
Thanks for the tip :)
Haven't seen it but yea, it can be helpful even to get the average rate for the article.
