Hi hackers,
Covid hit me financially really hard, just like so many others. I was lucky that the hit was only for three months. But within the 3 months I made the resolution to learn coding, not so much for a career change, but to build something that could potentially provide some side income. Over the three months that I was out of work, I learned front-end (AngularJs framework).
I was also able to convince a buddy to join me in building a startup, he is full-stack web developer and he focused on the backend. The idea was to build shift-work finder app. The startup was a successful failure. Took the L, and here are some good lessons (sorry, I don't mean to be captain obvious 😅).
I also learned that I love coding and I enrolled into a back-end course (Udemy's NodeJS, mongoose, Express, MongoDB) and now my 🎯 is to building something that can make me $50-$100/day. I feel like this is more achievable and scalable.
Ohh! my day 💼, Manufacturing Engineer at a Med Device company. I see a tone of opportunities for automation and hopefully my new found coding skills will someday level up to building solutions.
I love to learn coding too, but I feel like I'm gonna be too confused. But thanks for sharing. This is pretty cool and practical.
Hi @treychong, it is confusing. The longer you stay with it, it gets better and you start to understand the concepts. Also, get help from people that are around you that know how to code.
thanks for sharing your learn. I am curios to know do you have any customers by the way? do you still run your product after it fails?
We had a few customers and were at $100/MRR but we gave up.
