As someone who's worked on my own fair share of new projects over the recent years, I cannot stress how efficient it is, not to mention how relieved you'll be, to create a personal knowledge base for yourself.
The next time you are learning something entirely new from scratch, or even if you're re-learning it, make notes (notepad, word, google docs, etc) as a way of creating a personal knowledge base for yourself.
Make it easy for yourself to recreate those exact same steps, this time with a little more confidence and guidance.
And each time you recreate those steps, make more notes.
Edit, update and improve what you’ve learned.
This is the key to building any type of process. Whether it’s for yourself, your company, or someone else.
Also, don’t forget to keep separate notes on mistakes and things to avoid for those next times.
You’ll save A LOT of time in the long run.
And you’ll also thank yourself for doing so.
I'd love to hear if anyone has any other productivity tips similar to this when it comes to learning new skills or taking on new projects.
What do you use to keep your knowledge base? I use Notion.
Personally I've been using a combination of Google docs and Google sheets. If it's something I'm doing on the go, I'll even make notes in my phone, email them to myself and then log them in my google docs.
I like the sound of Notion though and I'll get it a try!
Love love love the Notion product and community :) Let me know if you need any help setting up ✨
It's a great tip. It may seem like self-advertising, but I recently started an Instagram page where I post web-dev tips that are basically something I learn on a daily basis. More than anything it is a kind of knowledge repository for myself. But as you mentioned, I guess I should write on some google doc or something because creating a post for Instagram is a tedious process tbh and not an efficient way to take notes :P If you want to check it out https://www.instagram.com/hackcrunch/
I love this! This is a great way to document things and even share the progress/tips along the way as you go. Great idea for sure. I'll definitely check it out.
I am building my digital brain on Notion.so
They are a very small team based in SF but they achieved great things. Personally, I find their product far ahead of all the other competitors.
Imagine Evernote having a baby with the entire GSuite. You get Notion. It's so powerful. And they have a very established community. Both on their website and on Reddit or Youtube.

Yep, I keep track of these small improvements in notion, but I'm kind of a process addict.
