Created a web app for all my Car needs in 2 days!
I am not a programmer but I use product solution tools to create something that is functional and marketable. I remember the feeling of finding and searching for a car instructor then finding car insurance then looking for a car dealership, it was really time-consuming. I thought, why couldn't I use a web app that makes the process faster, I can call this service provider, find their location, price, and website without jumping from site to site.
I created drive4ever.net, which focuses on the UK market currently. I assumed that created the product would the hardest thing, but I was wrong. What will differentiate my product and the value I will give to my users kept me thinking really hard. Without proper marketing, no one will know about my product!
I found a solution that creating content that targets the services I PROVIDE could grow my ranking on Google. Also, I have plans on getting my user to use the web app as their first choice which is a problem that I am working on.
Have you ever had a similar experience before and how did you pass this stage?
It's great that you solved the problem this way and found an option that worked perfectly for you. I also don't like going from site to site comparing options, so I found a good service, check for mor info. This is a site where you can compare the insurances of different companies. It seems to me that this is also very convenient.
Curious - what tech stack is the app built on?
I like the idea that you’re scratching your own itch. Have you spoken to other people about if/how they would like this problem solved? If it’s something you want to monetise eventually it’s important to start speaking to potential customers. The hard thing about speaking to customers is making sure you don’t try and sell them the idea, as their responses will be biased.
I would recommend reading the Mom Test for any founder at the earliest stages.
From a point of scale, my mainly users tend to be young people because they will go through the flow learning and buying a car.
Spoken to family and friends, they like the idea and would use it.
My plan is to monetise it by charging a yearly subscription on the app listing.
Have you tried the web app and what do you think about it?
I had a quick look at the app and I get the general premise. What would make this really useful is to make it more of an informational tool (targeted at new, young drivers). And then you provide hyperlinks to your top 5/10/20 insurance companies etc. Some form of qualification, ranking system etc would be good.
Then you could potentially monetise with advertising / affiliate links.
